Wetlands International announces the Peatland Breakthrough

Wetlands International announced the launch of the Peatland Breakthrough at the Convention of Wetlands COP15, uniting public and private stakeholders in a shared mission to deliver large-scale land-use change to safeguard and restore peatlands worldwide.

Caledonian Climate welcomes the announcement of the Peatland Breakthrough at Wetlands COP15.

Established by our partner Wetlands International, this bold global initiative will bring much-needed investment, international mobilisation, and strategic action to accelerate the large-scale peatland restoration required to build climate and nature resilience and meet the targets set out by the Paris Agreement.

The announcement marks a shift in how we approach global climate and nature goals: one that prioritises investment in high-impact, high-value nature restoration activity to make a measurable difference to both planet and people.

Bringing together multiple stakeholders, organisations, and perspectives, the Peatland Breakthrough represents a coordinated commitment to recover these essential natural assets and drive systemic change in land use worldwide to safeguard peatland for the future.

Caledonian Climate looks forward to contributing our expertise to the Peatland Breakthrough as we continue to deliver large-scale peatland restoration projects across the UK.

Caledonian Climate has a broad range of high-value, high-integrity peatland projects that are fully validated and available for investment.

About Caledonian Climate

Working responsibly with the custodians of Scotland’s beautiful countryside, Caledonian Climate is committed to tackling the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss.

To achieve this, we talk to forward-thinking businesses who want to fulfil their ambitions for carbon emission reductions through high-quality carbon credits with multiple co-benefits. We then partner them with landholders in the Scottish Highlands, maximising the ecological value and sustainability of their estates.

Building on our significant experience, and guided by a distinguished Advisory Board, Caledonian Climate is delivering the benchmark for long-term restoration of Scotland's degraded peatlands, locking away the carbon for good.

Our work also enhances biodiversity, improves water quality, boosts local economies and creates a compelling story for all of our partners to share.
